It will be interesting to see how these DDOS attacks impact the game over the coming days and whether they affect the number of people playing. Released on the streaming service back in September, Squid Game, like Crab Game, featured a group of contestants that attempt to win children’s games to win a large cash prize. One of the reasons for this success likely rests with its similarities to the Netflix series Squid Game. The game has enjoyed reasonably good success since it launched on Steam at the end of October. In addition, the battle royale contains 9 different game modes. Some of the features include support for up to 35 players, along with 28 maps. In order to win the game, players must win a series of minigames. In addition to cautioning players, DaniDev apologized to those that had run into the issue already while playing the game.Ĭrab Game is a battle royale type experience featuring cartoonish graphics juxtaposed against deadly survival games. According to the developer, streamers currently should not join public lobbies in Crab Game, as it significantly increases the risk of a DDOS attack. In a group of tweets sent by DaniDev, he detailed the issues behind the DDOS attacks. Recently, gamers have started to report complications with the game, including problems with DDOS attacks. Unfortunately, things haven’t gone according to plan for many players, including these high-profile streamers. Known as Crab Game, many streamers, such as the popular xQc and Sodapoppin, have already begun streaming the unusual title. Hopefully, this speed bump doesn't slow down its success and it's able to build a game that's even more fun and exciting as result.Over the past couple of days, some of the top names on Twitch have been checking out a new game available on Steam. Dani had previously warned streamers to stay away from public lobbies on Crab Game until he fixed the game.Ĭrab Game is unabashedly capitalizing on the success of Squid Game, but it's also a very interesting game and makes for a wonderful social experience. Lastly, Dani apologizes to streamers who were impacted by Crab Game's lax security. Dani explains that his priority was making the game safe to play and that the bugs can be solved later. As in, players may experience a significant amount of bugs while playing. As a result, there are currently what Dani describes as "a lot of issues" with Crab Game. Dani explains that he "completely replaced all the old networking code with the new one" and apparently did so very quickly. There is one big caveat, according to Dani, but it's not related to IP addresses. Dani compares the technology to what "any other game on Steam" utilizes to protect players' IP addresses. He says that Crab Game now utilizes the Steam platform's Networking tech, which protects' users IP addresses. Dani shared on Twitter that " Crab Game is now SAFE," confirming that that game has been updated so as to no longer reveal players' IP addresses. Video game players immediately recognized parallels between Squid Game and certain game genres like battle royales or party games like Fall Guys. The Netflix television show Squid Game went massively viral, introducing millions of viewers to its complicated system of playground games, character drama, and extreme violence.
